AMD today at ,Computex Conference, officially announced its HEDT platform X399 for its upcoming RYZEN THREADRIPPER processors with up to 16 Core 32 Threads. These upcoming processors will come in a multiple variations with top one being with 16C32T configuration.  The new platform will include 64 lanes of PCI Express 3.0 and quad channel memory support,that will be standard for all threadripper variations.It is advantageous in AMD’s favor as Intel Skylake-X processors announced yesterday will only include 44 PCI Express 3.0 lanes even with top tier 18 core $2000 processors.

 

AMD,however, did not provide any details about clock speed and pricing of these upcoming chips but confirmed that these will come in multiple variations like 10C20T,12C24T,14C28T etc. The new X399 platform does pack some serious punch with being designed with 64 PCI E 3.0 lanes and quad channel memory support for up to 8 DIMMs. AMD chips only vary according to core and thread count but are not handicapped as Intel did with their Kabylake-X counterparts giving them only dual channel memory support with 16 PCIE 3.0 lanes only.Even in case of Skylake-X for 44 PCIE 3.0 lanes you need a processor starting from $999. The I/O connectivity is also expected to be same across platform.

The massive Ryzen Threadripper was showcased at Computex today. Its connectivity capabilities were also demonstrated. A threadripper system powered with Vega GPU was displayed running Prey on 4K. Blender Ryze test was also shown that was previously displayed from Ryzen 7 launch.

CEO Lisa Su came back on stage to demo AMD Threadripper running with a set of four Radeon Vega Frontier Edition cards running together for ray tracing

At last,Threadripper gaming performance was demoed with dual Radeon RX VEGA GPUs running PREY at 4K with ultra setting however no insight on framerate was provided.

AMD didnot provide any definate launch dates but Vega Frontier edition cinfirmed for 27th June and RX Vega coming a month after at SIGGRAPH 2017.
